I am a native UK English speaker, with over twenty years’ experience studying and working with languages, literature and writing.

I also have experience in community education, ESOL teaching, primary school teaching and administration.

I translate and write because I love words – the endless possibilities they offer us, the power they contain, and the fun – and because of the way a different language lets us view our world through an alternative window.

Quality and Standards

I hold the post-graduate level Diploma in Translation (Portuguese to English) from the Chartered Institute of Linguists -CIOL (2015, with merit), and I am a qualified member of the CIOL. I am an active member of DELT (Association of Danish English Literary Translators) and the Emerging Translators Network. I attend regular meetings and workshops for professional development and follow the CIOL’s code of professional conduct (here)

I also hold the CIOL Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (Brazilian Portuguese), passing all units with merit/distinction.
